FELLING AND PROCESSING SMALL TREES?

This Level 2 Award in Felling and Processing Trees Up To 380mm [diameter] course is designed to provide you with the skills and knowledge to safely and effectively cope with felling ‘small’ trees, where the diameter of the stem is less than the length of the guide bar.

WHAT IS COVERED?

As well as relevant legislation, risk assessments and emergency planning, the course looks at the basic felling technique for upright trees, as well as methods used for trees that are weighted either in the direction of fell, or against it.

The course also covers dealing with hung-up trees, dealing with the canopy and cross-cutting to a site specification.

PRE-REQUISITES

To undertake this Level 2 Award course, you must have successfully passed your NPTC assessments in:

  1. CS30 or the Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting.

PROGRESSION

This foundation course is a pre-requisite for the Level 3 Award in Felling and Processing Trees Over 380mm, and also the Level 3 Award in Emergency Treework Operations.

This course is one of the pre-requisites for the Level 3 Award in Aerial Cutting Of Trees With A Chainsaw Using Freefall Techniques.

DURATION

This course typically consists of 4 days of training, followed by 1 day of assessment.
